Eastern Anatolia. Mid 19th century.
Wool and cotton. 26"x 57." Slit tapestry. This early example of a popular type is complete, but has small frayed areas throughout. Many of the brown weft areas have corroded. The side seams of this piece were opened at one time, presumably for cleaning and repair, and were not re-stitched. Thus in the photos here I have just folded over the pouch faces as they would have been originally. I have done nothing to the piece but give it a good cleaning.....SALE: $485
